How a Notepad Can Help You With Weight Loss

It's astounding how a simple pad of paper can help you accomplish a great number of things. It can help you keep track of important items you need to do that day, or even that week. It can help you remember important things or thoughts you have for future events. It can even help you lose weight, when you put the pad of paper to this specific use.

If losing weight and getting into shape are priorities for you, then it can be really beneficial to get into the habit of either having a small notepad or a small pack of post-its close by throughout the day. If that is not possible, then keeping multiple pads at your various "stations" of the day may be the option that works for you.

The reason why having paper at hand is so important is the fact that you never know when you will have a thought that pops up in your head that you don't want to forget. It could be a thought that occurred to you at work, or a specific exercise you want to do later, a cooking program you want to watch at 8 pm, or things that you need to get from the market after work so you are able to cook a healthy dinner when you get home.

You need to be able to jot these types of things down so you do not forget them for later. This way you won't forget the items from the grocery store you need for dinner and have to resort to picking up a fattening fast food meal for your family. You won't miss the cooking show that you saw a commercial about that is going to teach you new recipes you think your family will enjoy. You won't forget about the new exercise program you heard a colleague at work talk about today.

There are quite a number of instances that can arise on any given day where you can put your notepad to use which is why it is extremely helpful to have one handy at all times.

For instance, maybe you have a desk at home where you work for an hour or two each night, keep a notepad there. What about a certain place where you always sit on the couch at home with an end-table nearby, you could keep a pad of paper and pen right there. Or possibly you have a desk at work where you spend the better part of eight hours every day. You will definitely want to keep a pad of paper or small notebook in arms reach there.

In addition to jotting down ideas and thoughts, one of the best ways to use a notepad is to start writing down a daily agenda - a list of all the things you want to accomplish that day. Having an agenda of the day can be an excellent way to make the most of your time and accomplish as much as you can on a daily basis. Here is an example of a daily agenda that can quickly be scribbled down in your notepad while you are eating breakfast or getting dressed for work.

6 am - Wake Up
6:15 Run 2 miles
7 am - Shower, ready for work, cereal/coffee then *pack lunch
7:45 Leave for work
5 pm - Leave for home
5:45 - Grocery Store: Potatoes, Meat, Lettuce
6:15 - Dinner Cook
* Internet - Check for Crock-Pot recipes online
*Layout clothes for tomorrow to save time in the morning

That took exactly two minutes to write but now gives a specific agenda for the day along with a couple of goals to accomplish at some point. When you successfully complete an item on your list, cross it out or place a check-mark next to it. This way you can visually see the items that have been done, and those yet to be completed.

The more often you keep up with your daily agenda, the more you will see how helpful it can be to make your day as productive and healthy as possible. You may find that by simply writing down specific goals you want to achieve will help motivate you to actually stick with it. Taking it a step further, having a daily agenda may get you thinking of additional goals you hadn't thought of before, thus helping you become more productive than ever before.

For those who are dead set on making an actual healthy lifestyle change and lose weight, a notepad can truly help you accomplish this. Try it for a couple of weeks and see how much it can help you stick with your plan to develop a healthier life.
